WARREN - Internationally-published Ojibwa author Kim Sigafus will present a special Native American program at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Warren Township Public Library, 210 Burnett Ave.
Dressed in her Ojibwa regalia, Sigafus will be bringing several items people can see up close and handle. She'll be talking about both her Ojibwa culture and the Illinois' Native Americans who lived in the northwest region of the state. Sigafus will be doing a trivia game with prizes, as well as having her signed books for sale.
The author has recently released a children's book, "The Dress." The book deals with bullying and how important it is to let children know how special they are no matter what anyone else says about them.
Sigafus' seven books, which include fiction and nonfiction, all have a Native American culture theme. She has won several awards for her writing, including the Faith and Freedom Award, the Lena D. Myers Award and two indie publishing awards. An accomplished speaker, her presentation "Native American Culture through Oral Traditions, Music and Food," has been chosen for inclusion on the 2016-17 Road Scholars Speakers Bureau roster.
