MONTICELLO — The Badger State Archaeological Society held its 40th annual Native American Indian Artifact Show Oct. 20 in Monticello. The show was well-attended and included 90 tables filled with historical and pre-historical artifacts. 

Exhibitors from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin took part in the event. Boy Scout Troop #106 provided food. 

Awards presented included Best Personal Find, won by Gordon Morris, for his copper find. An Award of Excellence was won by Trevor Bane for his overall collection. Judge’s Special Award was won by Jeff Hipskind for his world-class flint collection. Educational Award was given to David Christenson with his general display. Best of Show was awarded to Sam Wasion.

Door prizes were won by Craig Kohl, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Scott Carruthers, Peru, Illinois; Tim Lenz, Verona; and Yvonne Lathern, Pecatonica, Illinois.
