JUDA - The Oakley Union United Methodist Church will be having Soup Day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 4 in Fellowship Hall of the church.

The cost of the meal is $6 for adults with advance tickets or $7 at the door; $3 for ages 6 to 10 or $4 at the door; and kids 5 and under are free. The menu includes three types of homemade chili, homemade beef vegetable and chicken noodle soup, hot dogs, cheese sandwiches, ice cream, homemade desserts and beverages.

There will be a craft fair and homemade baked items will be for sale. A silent pie auction will start at 11 a.m. and run throughout the day, with a local auctioneer hosting a live pie auction from 4 to 7 p.m. Local church women spend many hours preparing the meal and everything is made from scratch.

This is one of three fundraising events the church, which has about 30 members, will host this year. Pie Day will be in July or August. A cemetery walk will be in late September or early October. During the walk, the history of the church and some amazing and mysterious stories of people and families that are buried in the cemetery will be shared.
