Nurse receives DAISY award
Plager recognized for providing outstanding care
Callie Plager, RN
Callie Plager, RN received the DAISY Award on May 12.

MONROE — Callie Plager, RN, a nurse at Monroe Clinic’s Highland Women’s Care in Freeport, received the DAISY Award based on a nomination from a recent patient. Callie has been a nurse with Monroe Clinic for four years.

Callie was nominated by a recent Monroe Clinic Women’s Health patient. Her nomination shared that “Callie has been a constant through all my pregnancies. I recently experienced a scary pregnancy complication and Callie was there for me even though she was off duty on a weekend. She provided immediate reassurance and counsel, which was the push I needed to face the ER during COVID by myself. That Monday, she met my husband and I first thing at Highland Women’s Care for an appointment to get some much-needed answers. We are so incredibly grateful for Callie, and she is a major reason that we continue to grow our family with the support of Highland Women’s Care.”

A few of Plager’s coworkers attended her DAISY Award ceremony at Highland Women’s Care, with her family attending via video chat. There, many more stories of Callie’s extraordinary care, were shared.

The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that celebrates the extraordinary clinic skill and compassionate care delivered by nurses every day. Plager is one of three million nurses nationwide who represent the largest healthcare profession. Monroe Clinic employs over 300 nurses serving patients throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

Monroe Clinic asks the community to help spotlight the extraordinary contributions of nurses, like Callie, by nominating them for the DAISY Award. Nomination forms are available at any Monroe Clinic location and online at www.monroeclinic.org/daisy.
