Nine medical students receive scholarships

MONROE - Dr. George E. Breadon, president of the Green County Medical Society, recently presented $500 scholarships from the "Gavin Breadon Memorial Scholarship Fund" to nine Green County area medical students. Those receiving scholarships were: Marissa Young, daughter of Tim and Christine Young, Monroe: A 2007 Monroe High School graduate with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Saint Zavior University, Chicago, Young has graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and started a residency in pediatrics in Indianapolis. Cory Ganshert, son of Dr. Tom and Jodi Ganshert, Monroe: A 2005 graduate of Monroe High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in medical microbiology and immunology, Ganshert went on to earn a Master of Science in medical sciences in 2011 at Loyola University, Chicago, followed by two years of research in Chicago.
