NEW GLARUS - New Glarus Woods State Park will hold its 20th Annual Spirits of the Night family event on from 6:45 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. The event is sponsored by the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park. Bring a camp chair and flashlight.

The park has created a whole new show to celebrate the 20th year.

"Our "creatures of the night' will appear one by one on a single stage," said Dunnell Kendrick-Parker, president of the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park. "We will explain away any misunderstandings about their scariness and express their importance to our environment. If your children tend to be a little leery of things that go bump in the night, here's a chance to have some fun and see a friendlier side of night time."

After the show, the Chattermark Trail will be lit with luminaries for hiking and to spot the "light shine" animals, which can be seen with flashlights.

Admission is $1 per person or $5 maximum for large families. Hot dogs and drinks can be purchased for $2 per person. Parking is free and Wisconsin State Park entrance fees are waived for this event. Spirits of the Night is an annual fund-raising event for the Friends group, a non-profit volunteer organization. Proceeds go to the Friends group to help with projects to enhance the New Glarus Woods State Park.
