MONTICELLO - The Monticello High School National Honor Society hosted its first-ever blood drive Thursday, Dec. 16, with a goal of 40 units of blood.
The students exceeded their goal, collecting 49 units, and there were even 10 double donations given. An especially impressive fact was that there were 36 first-time donors that gave blood at the drive. The student council also incorporated the blood drive into the homecoming activities and made it into a competition between the classes with the seniors getting the most donors.
Before the blood drive, National Honor Society members also gave presentations to the elementary students to inform them about the process of giving blood and its benefits.
This was the first major service project of the year for the National Honor Society, and the group deemed it a success.
