JUDA - Every year Green County's 18 4-H clubs have the chance to participate in a program titled, "Youth-in-Action/Major Emphasis Activity." The program encourages 4-H clubs to discuss and decide what work project they would like to do as a community service; outline the plan of work; and tell what was accomplished.
The program aims to help youth learn about needs in their community and allows them to take action toward addressing needs that they feel are important. In the process, youth will have the opportunity to develop life skills such as empathy, leadership, teamwork, decision-making and record keeping.
The Next Generation 4-H members have been working on their own "major emphasis" activities for the past two years. On Feb. 7, the club presented a monetary donation to the art class of Juda School. The 4-H club raised these funds through local fundraisers held throughout the year. This is the club's second year of making this type of donation, with the money going to help purchase additional supplies for the art room.
