New pastor to begin at St. John's UCC Saturday

MONROE - Rev. Kathleen Rinear will begin serving as associate pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe on Saturday.

Rinear spent much of her career as a college English teacher. After moving to Wisconsin in 2001, she studied theology at Edgewood College and received her Masters of Divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary in 2006. She was ordained in 2007 and has served as an interim pastor in churches in Madison, Barneveld, Waupun and Sheboygan Falls.

She has also served as the called pastor at Darlington and recently completed a six-year ministry at Brookfield Congregational UCC in Brookfield.

Rinear is married to the Rev. John Jewell, who is a retired minister in the United Church of Christ. Since moving to Monroe two years ago, he has been involved in local community theater and in the Monroe Farmers Market.

For the past two years, Rinear has split her time between Monroe and Brookfield.
