ORANGEVILLE - The Mighty Richland Players, along with the Northwest Illinois Theatre Coalition, will premier the new musical, "Oklahoma, Hale and Damnation," Friday, April 27; Saturday, April 28; and Sunday, April 29 at 203 W. High St., Orangeville.
The musical, from off-Broadway author and composer Mike Craver, follows the travels and travails of familiar characters from the old West. Originally introduced to the audience in the 2009 production of "Bosh and Moonshine," five sinners - Fannie, Foz, Mould, Dora and Ollie - make their way from Texas to Dodge City, Kansas, this time stopping in Hale, Okla. The heroes arrive just in time to put the brakes on a nefarious plot by a railroad baron to cheat the widow Hale out of her land in an attempt to extend the line west to the town of Damnation.
Original cast members return to their roles, including the author/composer Mike Craver as the Rev. Mould, the undertaker. Phil Jackman will direct this year's production.
Other performances include: Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4 at 111 Monroe, Hanover; and Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 at Metcalf Hall, 600 South College, Mt. Carroll. The final weekend is Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 in Orangeville.
