MONROE - The Green County Genealogy Society will hold its meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 in the second floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave.

"Pilgrims, Puritans, Native Americans, and Our National Origin: Myth and Reality" is the topic that Dr. Daphne Stassin will discuss.

Stassin, a former history professor, received her bachelor's degree from UW-Madison, her master's from the University of Georgia and her doctorate from New York University.

Stassin studied Modern European history, but later became interested in early and 20th century American history due to the influence of her mother, Florence Stassin, who was interested in American history and genealogy.

She recently moved to Madison from Green County and is a member of the Monroe Benjamin Harrison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
