Community Brief

BRODHEAD — The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, Aug 6 at 10 am. The program “My Brodhead WI Norwegian Ancestor” will be presented by Sandy Wille. GCGS charter member Sandy Willie is Norwegian on her father's side. Her ancestors came over from Norway about 1918. Sandy will be specifically talking about her great uncle Louie Berg, aka Lars (Louis) Berge, who worked on the railroad in Brodhead WI. Included will be an emphasis on the importance of researching indirect ancestors on your family tree and her research methods. 

Sandy has been married for 51 years to her husband, Dave, and they have three children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She graduated from Milton High School and raised her family in Janesville. Sandy visited Norway in 2017 and 2018. She currently lives in Necedah WI and is an active member of our society and others.  

The meeting will be held in the second-floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug 6. Visitors are always welcome and there is no cost to attend.
