DARLINGTON — The Lafayette County Historical Society will host an open acoustic music jam August 7, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Veterans Park in front of the Museum.
The Museum will provide folding chairs, water, and lemonade.
All instruments and singers are welcome — guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bass, zither, banjo, dulcimer, spoons, harmonica, accordion, kazoo, etc. Acoustic means without amplification. If a player’s only instrument requires electricity to be heard there will be extension cords, but they must not be louder than the unplugged instruments.
The type of music played will be determined by the musicians present and can include folk, rock, country, old time, gospel, Irish, polka, bluegrass, jazz.
Players and singers of all experience levels are encouraged to come. There will be a circle of musicians with each having a turn to call a tune with everyone playing along. There’s no pressure. Each can determine how much or little they wish to play.
Listeners are also welcome. This is a casual “for fun” event with no one on stage.
In case of unpleasant weather, the event will move to the lower level meeting room of the Museum, 525 Main St., Darlington. For more information call 608-482-2483.
