MONROE — Monroe Arts Center presents the Next Generation Leahy at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. The group has been described as one of the most talented families currently performing.

Doug Leahy, his wife Jennifer, and their six children will deliver a performance of Celtic-based and holiday music. This performance will be held at Monroe High School Performing Arts Center, 1600 26th Street, Monroe.

Building on over three generations of Leahy musicianship, the Next Generation Leahy are keeping the legacy and tradition alive through music, song, and dance. Doug — a member of the Canadian Celtic group “Leahy” — and Jennifer — a musician for most of her life — both understand the joy and exhilaration only music can provide. Their children inherited their passion for music.

Still all in elementary school, the children, ages 16, 15, 13, 11, 10, and 8, are accomplished multi-instrumentalists. Fiddle, cello, French accordion, singing, piano and French-Canadian step-dancing all find a voice on stage.

The Next Generation Leahy has performed all over North America, having shared the stage with Irish legends like The Chieftains, Fernando Varela, The Tenors, Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy.

Tickets may be purchased by calling the Monroe Arts Center at 608-325-5700, in person at the box office at 1315 11th Street, or online at monroeartscenter.com.
