MONROE — Due to a forecast of extremely cold temperatures, the organizers of the Mark Mueller Scholarship Fund’s punt, throw and kick event scheduled for Feb. 7 has been postponed to Feb. 21. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Twining Park in Monroe.
Children and adults of all ages are eligible to participate. There will be both skill prizes and raffle prizes. Proceeds will go to scholarship dollars in memory of Mueller, a 2001 Monroe graduate.
Participants do not to be present. For those unable or unwilling to meet at the park, video of efforts, along with tape measurements, can be emailed to jimbocurran@gmail.com by midnight Feb. 20 in order to be counted.
Weather forecasts for Feb. 7 were expected to have wind chills below zero, while the early Feb. 21 forecast suggests warmer temperatures by 20 degrees or more.
