MONROE - Monroe Theatre Guild is holding a "Reader's Theatre Adventure" on Saturday, April 16. The class is taught by Matt Finkenbinder and Lisa Moon. There will be a class from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 7 to 9, and from 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 10 to 14. The cost is $18 for MTG members and $21 for non-members.
The class will begin with a variety of acting games designed to promote creative thinking and expression. Students will then explore a range of characters from classic children's literature. Parts will be read from a "script," with characters divided among the readers - no memorization is needed. The focus will be on reading with expressive voices and gestures, making comprehension of the text meaningful and fun.
Each class will end with a 30-minute performance for family and friends. More information and printable registration forms can be found at monroetheatre.com or by calling (608) 325-1111.
