MONROE - The Monroe Theatre Guild (MTG) is seeking instructors for youth classes for summer 2011. Classes can be for any age group between the ages of 3 and 15 and can be in any area of art, theatre, music or dance. Our facility includes a black-box theatre, a 2,500 square foot rehearsal room and an art classroom.
Classes can be one to two hours long on a weekday or weekend, a half-day or full-day on a weekend, or a class that spans several consecutive days during the week. Pay scale is set according to experience level but is at a very competitive level. Assistants can be brought along or provided. The guild offers a broad selection of costumes, props and art supplies but can also provide additional supplies as needed for a specific class. They also can provide an electric piano, sound system and video projector if needed.
Class ideas may be in the area of acting, improv, mime, acting using masks, reader's theatre, physical comedy, stage combat, drawing, painting, sculpture, prop making, scenic painting techniques, mask making, puppetry, making puppets, beginners sewing, costume design, performance art, blacklight art, music through rhythms, singing, musical theatre songs, campfire songs, dance, or other suggestions.
There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at the MTG Theatre at 910 16th Ave., Monroe. Come get more information on classes and summer plans, discuss potential classes with the MTG Youth Programming Committee, bring a calendar to discuss class dates, and tour performance areas and classrooms.
