Monroe Rural Fire Engine 2 sits outside its current firehouse located at 840 W. 8th Street on Monroe’s far west side. The Rural Fire Department had been notified in January to vacate its new firehouse location by April 15, however, the Monroe Common Council may change the zoning of the building to allow continued use. MONROE — The Monroe Rural Fire District Open House will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 17 at the fire station, 840 W 8th St. There will be an extrication tools demo at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. 

There will be kid’s activities, a coloring contest, station tours and a dunk tank. Jim’s Backyard BBQ and Monroe Rural Fire District items will also be available.
