MONROE - The adult choir of Union Presbyterian Church will present the cantata, "The Weeping Tree," by Joseph M. Martin at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, March 16.
The church is located at 2707 5th St., Monroe. The public is invited.
The central focus of this work is the "weeping tree" (or cross) and some of the other symbols associated with the crucifixion (robe, crown of thorns, nails, and the blood of Christ). All of this is done through narration, scripture, and songs.
Members of the choir are: Susan Anderson, Bill Baker, Bobbie Bernet, Hans Bernet, Lou Dalton, Tina Duemler, Nancy Edmunds, Geraldine Gordee, Jonna Heins, Cindi Miller, Daryl Miller, Gerry Miller, Jo Ellen Mosher, Paul Nelson, Jane Olson, Kathy Reffue, Brad Richardson, Marilyn Sandin-Ross and George Vernon. The choir is directed by Allen Redford and accompanied by Maynard Heins.
