MADISON - The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison, will conduct its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on April 29, according to Deborah A. Thompson, director. Rosie Wenger and Rosemarye Showers, both of Monroe, will be recognized and receive pins for their volunteer service. Wenger will receive a pin for 2,500 hours and Showers for 1,750 hours.
The major awards presented this year will be: plaques for 20 years of service to Jim Schnering of Madison and Gordy Wahlgren of Mount Horeb; 10,000 hour awards to George Cambridge of Madison and Tim Jackman of Middleton; 8,750 hour award to Joyce Clampitt of Cross Plains; and a 7,500 hour award to Ethel Anding of Madison. There are 237 individual awards being presented at the luncheon. The hospital has 500 dedicated volunteers providing over 84,000 hours of service annually.
During National Volunteer Week, April 19 - 25, the Veterans Hospital conducted breakfast buffets and ice cream socials daily as well as other expressions of appreciation for their dedicated volunteers.
The award presentation will take place at Rex's Innkeeper Restaurant of Waunakee at 1 p.m. on April 29.
