Monroe: United Way accepting funding applications

MONROE - The Allocations Committee for the United Way of Green County Inc. is currently accepting funding applications for programs that address identified needs of people living in Green County. After careful review of all applications, the committee will schedule interviews with representatives from each local non-profit agency seeking funds for the year 2009.

All organizations applying for United Way funding must have a tax exempt status under the 501c (3) Internal Revenue Code of 1954 and must have conducted business for at least one year immediately proceeding admission to participation, a recognized program of health, welfare, or other non-profit activity serving residents of Green County. If you do not meet these requirements, your agency cannot be considered for funding.

All funding applications must be received by the United Way no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. The United Way funds programs and initiatives that address the most critical needs of the community. Program funding focus areas include: Helping Children and Youth Succeed; Fulfilling Urgent and Basic Human Needs; Increasing Independence and Self Sufficiency; and Promoting Individual and Family Health and Wellness. Through strong partnerships and collaborations, the United Way works not only to meet these needs but to also identify and address their root causes to create lasting change in our community.
