MONROE - All Green County 4-H and FFA members who wish to exhibit barrows in the Green County Fair Junior Swine Show must have their pigs identified and weighed on Saturday, March 29. The weigh-in will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon at the Green County Fairgrounds swine barn.
Each exhibitor can identify a maximum of five barrows for the 2008 Green County Fair. Barrows will be on test a period 108 days. The recommended weight for barrows on March 29 would be in the range of 50 to 60 pounds. The maximum weight for barrows to be identified is 70 pounds and the suggested minimum weight is 30 pounds.
Green County swine exhibitors must be certified in the Meat Animal Quality Assurance Program prior to June 1, 2008 to be eligible to show swine at the Green County Fair. Swine exhibitors who need to be certified or recertified must attend one of the two certification sessions that will be conducted in Green County. The sessions will be held on Saturday, May 10, at the Government Services Building in Monroe, or May 20 at the Juda Community Center.
