Monroe: Soddy celebrating 80th birthday Sunday

MONROE - Charles "Chuck" Soddy is celebrating his 80th birthday with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the American Legion, 1627 12th Ave., Monroe.

Soddy was born March 31, 1928 in Cadiz township, Browntown, to Laura and Ervin Soddy.

Hosting the open house are his children: Laurie (John) Thill, Albany; Michael, Key West, Fla.; Lonna (Steve) Mayer and Tim (Pat), Monroe; Jerry (Gina), Port Orchard, Wash.; Dan (Laurie), Franklin; LeAnn (Dean) Anderson, Antioch, Ill.; and Brian, Madison.

Soddy and Carolyn Spring have been married for 54 years. He is a retired Monroe postal carrier and works part-time at Equity Co-Op Livestock. They have 13 grandchildren (one deceased) and three great-grandchildren.

Everyone is welcome to the open house on March 30. No formal invitations will be sent.
