PLATTEVILLE - Matthew Schenk, Monroe, was recently inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Platteville chapters of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Societies. These societies recognize excellence in academic achievement during the first year of college.
To be eligible for membership in Alpha Lambda Delta, students need to maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average and be in the top 20 percent of their class during their first year. Phi Eta Sigma is the nation's largest and oldest honor society for college freshmen. To be eligible for membership in Phi Eta Sigma, students must have a G.P.A. of at least 3.5 at the end of their first or second semester of their freshman year to be eligible to join. Once inducted, students receive a lifetime membership.
Schenk, a 2008 graduate of Brodhead High School, is the son of David and Deborah Schenk of Monroe. He will be a sophomore at UWP in the fall majoring in agricultural business.
