MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is planning "Barb's Badger Bash," a special event at the outdoor pool from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 13, in honor of pool coordinator Barb Moser's last summer at the pool. Afternoon admission to the pool will be free.

There will be games such as Princess Diana toss, Badger football and basketball toss and other activities, including a visit at 2 p.m. from Bucky Badger and a farewell program at 3 p.m.

The donated foods that day will be a cheese tray from Colony Brands, root beer from Minhas Brewery, custard from Culver's and other foods donated by friends and family.

"Pool Lady" T-shirts are available for sale and may be ordered at the pool and at the Parks and Rec office. Sizes range from youth to 3X and the prices are $8, $10 or $12.

Moser has worked at the pool for 35 years, coordinating swimming lessons, admissions, supervising the other admissions helpers and performing other duties as needed. She also has served as the youth center supervisor for the Parks and Rec after-school program, checking in students as they arrive, setting up activities and events and supervising the program workers. She is on the Parks and Rec board.

A bench will be installed at the pool honoring Moser. Donations to the bench fund can be sent to or dropped off at the Parks and Rec office.
