MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has openings in the middle school dance team program for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. Registration will be taken until Wednesday; the program begins Monday.

The program offers an opportunity for middle school boys and girls to work with the Monroe High School Dance Team to learn dance skills and perform at middle school basketball games. The MHS Dance Team will be running the practices, which will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on early dismissal Mondays, Nov. 6, 13 and 27 in the MHS M-room.

Participants may ride any bus from MMS to the high school for the practices, as all buses go to the high school. A staff member from the dance team will be at the high school to check students in.

All participants must be picked up by 4 p.m. at the high school M-Room parking lot. Students will perform at halftime at the boy's middle school basketball games on Nov. 7, 20 and 28. Students need to be at the middle school gym on those dates by 4:15 p.m.

Students may sign up at the Monroe Parks and Recreation temporary office at 1064 5th Ave., across from PDC. The cost includes a T-shirt. Make the check out to the Monroe Dance Team. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 608-329-2460 with questions.
