Monroe, Monticello land judging teams advance

MONROE - The 2009 Wisconsin state land judging contest was Tuesday, July 21, near the Farm Technology Days show hosted by Dodge County. Hillsboro and York 4-H clubs participated, as well as FFA chapters from Albany, Arcadia, Belleville, Campbellsport, Cassville, Cashton, Hillsboro, LaFarge, Lancaster, Janesville Craig, Monroe, Monticello, New Glarus, Potosi, Reedsville, River Ridge, Shullsburg, Sparta, Tomah, Verona and Watertown. The top five senior teams move on to the national contest in Oklahoma to represent Wisconsin.

Senior Division results: Cassville, 933, first; Hillsboro, 914, second; Monroe, 914, third; Cashton, 905, fourth; and Monticello, 903, fifth. Locals who placed in the top 10 individually were: Luke Peterson, Monroe, fifth place; Tom Jenson, Monroe, seventh place; and Brett Hefty, Monticello, received eighth place.

Junior Division results: Lancaster, 837, first; Cashton, 832, second; Hillsboro, 799, third; Arcadia, 782, fourth; Monticello, 751, fifth. Locals who placed in the top 10 individually were: Travis Gilson, York 4-H, third place and Trevor Gilson, also of York 4-H, placed fourth.
