MONROE - Plans for Monroe's annual Fair on the Square are well underway, according to the event's chairman Tom Miller.
The fair is held with the downtown's annual Maxwell Street Day sidewalk sales which start Friday, Aug. 7, and continue through the summer Fair on the Square, Aug. 8. Plans include games, food, stage entertainment and live music. Miller said the event is suitable for all ages, from toddlers to adults. It begins with children's games and entertainment featuring a bouncy house and all kinds of games. A Green County Humane Society-sponsored beer garden opens at 5 p.m. with a pie eating contest and many more events throughout the day.
