MONROE - Twenty-two members of the Monroe High School Forensics team competed on Saturday, April 18, in the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association State Festival at University of Wisconsin-Madison. The state festival brings together the top forensics performances from around Wisconsin. Students were evaluated on a 25-point scale and were awarded medals based on the following scale of achievement: Gold: Critic's Choice (25 points); Silver: All State (23-24 points); Bronze: Finalist (20-21-22 points); Small Bronze: Achievement (19 points).
Monroe received 16 Critic's Choice awards for performances by Reuben Arnold (extemporaneous), Elizabeth Eiseman (poetry), Rikka Nelson (storytelling), Matthew Peterson (poetry), Heidi Blanc-Blum (solo acting-serious), Madeline Arnold (radio broadcasting), Lindsey Buehler (prose), Cassie Coffey (radio broadcasting), Patrick Gellings (prose), Nicole Heinen (solo acting-humorous), Carlee Latimer (farrago), Clarissa Liimatainen (four minute), Taylor Weis (prose), Hannah Hull (poetry), Haley Sinklair (oratory), and Amy Whiteman (solo acting-serious). These students earned gold medals for their perfect scores of 25. Silver medals were awarded to students earning scores of 23 or 24 points (All State): Stephanie Cline (farrago), Gail LaVoie (farrago), Alyssa Quinn (demonstration), and Samantha Becherer (poetry). Earning bronze Finalist medals were Blake Antos (moments in history) and Bridget Kelly (solo acting-humorous). The team was coached by Holly Steger and Todd Trampe.
