Monroe: Drawings added to library's collection

MONROE - Two new drawings by Jeanne Ausmus have been added to the permanent display of past Monroe school buildings at Monroe Public Library. The new colored pencil drawings are of St. Victor School, 1916 and Green County Normal School, 1920. Other drawings of past Monroe Schools that Ausmus completed and placed on permanent display at the Library include: First High School, 1871; North (Churchill) School, 1882; East School, 1891; South School, 1896; the Second High School, 1995; Abraham Lincoln School, 1916. The drawings include depictions of students on the school playgrounds, including one of the artist as a student at Normal School.

They may be viewed during normal library hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
