MONROE - Monroe Clinic's parish nurse program invites current or retired registered nurses, faith community nurses and professionals working in the health ministry to an education day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 25 in the cafe rooms on the second floor of the Monroe Clinic Hospital, 515 22nd Ave., Monroe.

Special speakers and guests include Jill Westberg, daughter of Granger Westberg (founding father of parish nursing), who will present the beginning of parish nursing. Other speakers include representation from the Aging and Disability Resource Center; Green and Stephenson County Health Departments; Green Haven; Paws for Healing; and Monroe Clinic Palliative Care. Topics discussed will help meet the needs of the faith community nurse when working with the elderly.

Monroe Clinic's parish nurse program partners with community members to offer local expertise to promote health, wellness and the prevention of disease by encouraging a healthy balance between mind, body and spirit. The services of the program are provided at no cost to faith communities of any size or denomination and are offered as a result of Monroe Clinic's continuous commitment to improve the health of the communities served.

The event is free, courtesy of the Monroe Fund and the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund. Continental breakfast, light lunch and materials will be provided. Register by contacting Kris Wisnefske, parish nurse coordinator, at kris.wisnefske@ monroeclinic.org or 608-324-1185.
