Monroe Clinic reports that, for now, it has enough supplies and capacity to care for patients.

MONROE — Monroe Clinic is partnering with the Green County EMS Association, Green County Emergency Management and the Green County Health Department to provide training to area schools in Stop the Bleed.

Stop the Bleed is a nationally recognized 90-minute presentation designed to teach community members how to stop a hemorrhage.

In light of recent mass casualty events, the agencies hope is that by providing teachers with the necessary education on how to control bleeding, educators will feel better prepared to handle a crisis. The training also helps people to learn how to control bleeding in the case of an accident at home, on the farm, or anywhere in the community.

The South-Central Regional Trauma Advisory Council will provide bleeding control bags to schools that participate in the training.  The bags contain the necessary equipment to control bleeding in someone that has experienced a traumatic injury.

Besides the training of area school staff, the goal is to train farmers, church, 4-H, FFA and other local organization members through the partnership with Monroe Clinic. EMS also encourages community members to consider purchasing a bleeding-control kit at.
