Monroe Clinic celebrates cardiac rehab patients
Cardio Picnic
Monroe Clinic Cardiac Rehabilitation patients enjoyed each other’s company at a recent Twining Park potluck. Exercise physiologist Kacie Vergeront greets rehab patient George Buol as he signs up for prizes at the Monroe Clinic Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation appreciation picnic. Peeking out from behind the balloon is R.N. Kristi Langhus assisting at the table with her daughter Sage Langhus.

MONROE — Monroe Clinic Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation patients gathered with Monroe Clinic staff June 28 at Twining Park to celebrate the patients’ dedication to rehabilitation and as a token of appreciation for choosing Monroe Clinic. Over 100 patients attended the biannual picnic to play games and enjoy a potluck.

In addition to the prizes collected by the team, Prairie Stone Gifts donated prizes to the event. Registered nurse Joyce Rolling started the picnic in 2000, and patients and staff have been gathering in celebration of the program’s success ever since.

Monroe Clinic’s Cardiopulmonary Rehab team helps over 200 patients each year. Participants in the program enjoy a better quality of life, moral and social support, educational resources and information on risk factor modification. Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and maintenance programs are available for a fee to those with a doctor’s prescription.
