MONROE - The City of Monroe Street and Sanitation Department with the cooperation of Boy Scout Troops 115, 101 and 180, announce a Yard Waste Drop-off Day. Monroe residents who pay a quarterly refuse and recycling fee may bring their bagged and/or bundled yard waste to the Street Department one Saturday per month free of charge.
This will be done on a trial basis for this summer. Continuation of this program in the future will be determined by public participation and outside cooperation.
First drop-off day will be from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 17. Curbside collection rules apply, yard waste must be bagged and/or bundled in four-foot lengths, weighing no more than sixty pounds. Loose material will not be accepted. Residents wishing to keep their emptied bags may do so.
Weekly curbside collection will still be provided for yard waste bags or bundles with stickers.
