Monroe: City Band concert is Monday

MONROE - The Monroe City Band will start the summer concert season with a free public concert at 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the Twining Park bandshell.

The concert will include: "The Star Spangled Banner" as arranged by Bill Moffit; "Old Comrades," march by Carl Teike, edited by John R. Bourgeois; "Black Tower Overture," by Kevin Kaisershot; " Military Polonaise" by Frederic Chopin, adapted and arranged by L.C. Harnsberger; and "Nordic Sketches" by Pierre LaPlante.

Other works to be include are: "Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me," by Duke Ellington, arranged by John Moss; "Themes Like Old Times III," a medley, arranged by Warren Barker; selections from "Annie" by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, arranged by Philip J. Lang; and "Miss Liberty," march by Karl L. King, arranged by James Swearingen.

The band is directed by Randy Schneeberger. The next concert is 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, on the Square in Monroe.
