MONROE - The Monroe City Band will kick off its 65th season of park concerts with a program at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Twining Park band shell. There is no admission charge.
Special guests for the first concert are the accordion duo of Bobbie Edler and John Waelti, who will be performing an arrangement of the famous Spanish tune "Granada." The duo has performed for several area functions and regularly appears at Turner Hall's Rathskeller and "Squeezebox Night." The event will also include "Florentiner" March and a patriotic selection titled "American Visions." The host for the evening will be Mary Gafner.
Dates for the season are June 9, June 23, July 4, July 14 and July 28. Other guest performers include clarinetist Dr. Lara Sayler-Smith, soprano Nicole Heinen and vocal ensemble "Circle Of Friends."
