Monroe: Block party is April 12 at YMCA

MONROE - Block Party, a block play event on a grand scale, will be held on April 12 during the Green County Family YMCA's Healthy Kids Day event.

A large number of blocks are "on tour." Children will enjoy walking into a room filled with different kinds of blocks, and having a chance to build to their hearts content.

Why hold a Block Party?

The toys children play with are the tools they use to develop mentally, physically and socially.

Playing with blocks of all different types fosters children's later understanding of math, science, language, physical coordination, and even social skills. They are the ultimate child development tool.

Between the ages of birth and 5-years-old, important things are happening in children's brains.

The nerve connections that will serve them all their lives are developing rapidly.

The activities and interactions that children experience are the basis of how these connections get made.

All are invited to join in the fun at the Monroe YMCA Healthy Kids Day from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 12, at the YMCA.

A number of other interactive and fun activities will be ongoing. Children from 6-months- to 8-years-old are invited, but must be accompanied by at least one adult.
