Monroe: Blackhawk Tech classes starting soon

MONROE - The new semester is underway at the Monroe Campus of Blackhawk Technical College with a wide variety of continuing education classes available. Classes starting soon include:

• Welding/Open assists in upgrading skills with individualized instruction in the principles of welding techniques and process related to various materials. Safety is emphasized. The class is scheduled to start on Thursday, Feb.14, 6:30 to 9 p.m. and meet for eight sessions at Monroe High School.

• Spanish for Absolute Beginner is for people with absolutely no prior knowledge of the Spanish language. Emphasis will be on speaking and understanding simple conversations. The class is scheduled to start on Monday, Feb. 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m. for 12 sessions at the Behring Senior Center.

• Spanish II allows continued exploration of the Spanish language at a slow pace. Using an oral and written approach, the emphasis on both grammar and conversation will help work toward a basic knowledge of the Spanish language. The class is scheduled to start on Monday, Feb. 18, 3 to 4:30 p.m. for 12 sessions at the Behring Senior Center.

Campus office hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
