Monroe: Basketball contest is Sunday

MONROE - The Monroe Optimist Breakfast Club is sponsoring the Tri-Star Pass, Shoot and Dribble basketball contest at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Green County Family YMCA in Monroe.

The contest has been an annual event designed to test the basketball skills of boys and girls, ages 8 to 13. Each age group will be divided into boy and girl categories.

The gym will be available for warm-up at 12:30 p.m. All contestants must compete between 1 and 2 p.m. A drawing for a men's and women's leather basketball will occur immediately following the competition. Participation medals will be awarded to each entrant. The participant with the highest point total will receive the Mo Sathoff Memorial award and a gift certificate to Dairy Queen.

The winning boy and girl and the runners-up will be awarded trophies by the Monroe Optimist Breakfast Club. The individual boy and girl with the highest point total in his or her age group will be eligible to compete in the District Invitational Tri-Star contest March 22 in Mukwonago.
