MONROE - Bidding for the Monroe Middle School's Chair-ity Auction begins today and continues through Friday.
Students designed and painted the chairs in art class, repurposing unused chairs and giving them a colorful new life. The annual auction, which began in 2003-04 under retired art teacher Kris Preboske, is designed to promote art education in school and service learning for students.
About 46 chairs will be auctioned this year, with proceeds going to the Green County Humane Society. Past donations from the proceeds have gone to GCHS, American Cancer Society, Red Cross-Haiti, Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Jacob's SWAG.
All bidders will be notified by phone or email if there is an increased bid on the chair during the week. The deadline for bids is 3:30 p.m. Friday. All winning bidders will be notified by Dec. 9. Chairs will need to be paid for and picked up by Dec. 12. Payments accepted are cash or check, made out to Monroe Middle School.
Bids can be called in to 608-328-7373 or emailed to michelemars@monroe.k12.wi.us.
