MONROE - "Pick a Peck o' Pachelbel" is the title for the next Midday Masterworks organ mini-recital, scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 25 at St. Victor Catholic Church, 1416 20th Ave. Due to a scheduling conflict at the Monroe United Methodist Church, this installment of Midday Masterworks will be presented only once.

Played by Deborah Krauss Smith, organist/director of music at St. John's UCC, Monroe, the half-hour recital will feature organ works by Johann Pachelbel, a German organist, composer and teacher whose compositions pre-date those of J.S. Bach and are considered important contributions to the development of the Baroque musical style.

The church's instrument, the Matthew Ronald Buholzer Memorial Pipe Organ, is a hybrid combination of a 1968 Möller pipe organ with a three-manual Rodgers electronic organ, and was built by Kelly Monette in 2006.

Midday Masterworks is in its eleventh year of quarterly themed mini-organ recitals. The program is free and open to the public; the church is handicapped-accessible. More information is available at www.ColdSpringsRoad.com/MiddayMasterworks.html.
