MONROE - Monroe High School vocal music department will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in the MHS Performing Arts Center. Performing groups include: Barbershop, Camerata, Combined Madrigals, Canzona, Concert 9, Concert 10, Chamber, Acappella and Show Choir.
Tickets are $3 adults and $2 students and senior citizens.
The Barbershop group will perform the National Anthem.
The Madrigals will perform "Gloucestershire Wassail," an English traditional carol arranged by Ralph Vaughan William. The Camerata will sing "Coventry Carol," a traditional carol arranged by Martin Shaw and the Canzona will perform "Ding-a-Ding-a-Ding," words and music by Greg Gilpin.
Emily Treuthardt is the teacher's assistant and Caroline Tindle is the accompanist for the Concert Choir 9. They will sing," Johnny Angel," "It's My Party" and "I Only Want To Be With You," arranged by Jay Althouse. Also, "Bubbly," words and music by Colby Carllat and Jason Reeves, arranged by Roger Emerson. Soloists are Alyssa Montgomery and Christina Wyttenbach. Speaker is Jenni Stretsbery.
Sean Jorgenson is the teacher's assistant for the Concert Choir 10. They will sing "So Small," words and music by Luke Laird, Hillary Lindsey and Carrie Underwood, arranged by Barry Talley. Soloists are Jodie Voegeli and El Nesimoglu; "All the Pretty Little Horses" and "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" arranged by Roger Emerson.
Chamber Choir will sing, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," words and music by Freddie Mercury, arranged by Mark Brymer and "When You Believe" from "The Prince of Egypt," words and music by Stephen Schwartz, arranged by Audrey Snyder. Soloists are Samantha Werrline and Jessica Hughes.
The Vocal Jazz/Acappella choir will sing, "The Pink Panther" by Henry Mancini arranged by Jay Althouse, "Ain't Misbehavin" from the musical "Ain't Misbehavin," words Andy Razaf, music,: "Fats" Waller and Harry Brooks, arranged by Larry Shockley. Soloist is Tyler Moser and Jessica Hughes in the teacher's assistant.
The Show Choir performs "Nightmare Before Christmas," music and lyrics by Danny Elfman arranged by Alan Billingsley; "This Is Halloween," soloists, Keenen Minoque, Peter Kelly; Ensemble, Cassandra Shaker, Kelsey Rients, Jordan Goehring; "What's This?," "Kidnap the Sandy Claws," and "Oogie Boogie's Song." Emily Treuthardt is the choreographer and student director.
