MONROE - On April 7, a Monroe High School team of 20 German students won first place in the 22nd Annual German Day.
German Day is sponsored by the Department of German at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Over 800 students and teachers from 47 Wisconsin high schools and middle schools gathered at the Memorial Union on the UW-Madison campus to compete in contests involving Poetry Reading, Spelling, Music, and Skits, Posters, and Videotapes.
They were judged by faculty and staff of German at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
MHS German teacher, Karen Fowdy, coached the students for competition in the German Day events.
