APPLETON - Jennifer Sefcik, daughter of Andrew and Ann Sefcik, Monroe, is spending the summer in Appleton on an internship at Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs as a recipient of a 2014 Lawrence University Summer Volunteer Opportunity Grant.

For her internship at Harbor House, Sefcik is working as a crisis intervention advocate, answering the crisis phone line and responding to emergencies. She also helps facilitate support group sessions four days a week, including one group facilitated entirely in Spanish.

The SVOG is funded through Lawrence's Volunteer and Community Service Center and supports students pursuing service projects during the summer months. Along with financial support, the SVOG program strives to enhance and develop individual student learning as well as Lawrence's broader understanding of service.

Sefcik is a junior at Lawrence and a 2012 graduate of Monroe Senior High School.
