MONROE - Monroe High School is presenting their annual Monroe High School Band Winter Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature both MHS bands playing some classical repertoire, "Festival of Flight" by Travis Weller and "Vestal Overture" by James Ployar. Holiday songs will include "Festival Prelude on a Westminster Carol," "Chanukah is Here," "Fireside Christmas" and "Sleigh Ride."
This year the Wind Ensemble will feature a special song as tribute to those who were involved with Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. The concert will end with an audience sing-a-long of well-known carols. A visit with Santa and free cookies will follow the concert.
