DARLINGTON — The leadership team, medical staff, and employees of Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County (MHLC) recently honored Michael Robiolio, MD, for his over two decades of service providing patient care to countless residents of the communities served by MHLC’s primary care clinic.

In a tribute to Dr. Robiolio, MHLC prepared a document containing notes of thanks and testimonials, and which included the following sentiment, “I was once told never say goodbye because goodbye means going away and going away means forgetting. So instead, today we wish Mike ‘farewell’ as he turns the page in his life’s story. It was a pleasure working with him and his absence will be undeniably felt.”

In 2020, Dr. Robiolio announced that he will be shifting his focus away from primary care and is pursuing other life interests. At the start of his career in the county, Dr. Robiolio was hired by Drs. Bernardoni and Neumann to join their clinic, formally named Medical Associates, in 1999. The message to Dr. Robiolio went on to say, “So today we wish Mike “farewell” and that wherever he goes or whatever he may do, may it be in peace and with success. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of few chapters in your life’s story, and as the final page of this chapter turns today, we wish every success in all your future endeavors!”

Kathy Kuepers, CEO of MHLC, said of Dr. Robiolio’s departure from the practice, “One of the most special things about working in rural healthcare is the privilege to meet and work with providers with the caliber of Dr. Robiolio.” Kuepers went on to say, “Although his presence will be missed, his contributions to this great organization will benefit us well into the future.”

Dr. Robiolio’s last day for providing patient care was Dec. 31, 2020, at which time the team of health providers at MHLC’s Primary Care Clinic in Darlington assumed care for his patients and look forward to the opportunity to carry on his tradition of putting patients first.
