BRODHEAD — Brodhead Memorial Public Library will hold a book talk from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 with author Carrie Meyer at the library, 1207 25th St., Brodhead.

Her latest book, “Letters from the Boys: Wisconsin World War I Soldiers Write Home” was recently published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press. “Letters from the Boys” features the stories of many Brodhead area soldiers. Meyer combed through three newspapers in Green County to collect and synthesize the letters into a narrative that is both unique and representative, including what the men saw and how they prepared for war to life among families near the front and terror on the battlefield. Meyer is an associate professor of economics at George Mason University. Her presentation will include a slide show and readings from the book.

Copies of the book are available for check out at the library. This talk is free and open to the public.
