The Monroe School Board on Monday heard an update about the mentor/mentee program that matches veteran teachers with new teachers.

Program directors Sue Leuzinger, special education teacher at Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy, and Karen Fowdy, middle school/high school German teacher, said the program enables new teachers to talk to veteran teachers.

"They have a supportive listener and someone to give them ideas," Leuzinger said.

The distict has eight new teachers and two new administrators this year. The district welcomed them with a brief reception during the school board meeting Monday.
