MONROE - The Green County Master Gardeners Association will hold its monthly tour at 7 p.m. July 28 at the home of Marilyn Sandin Ross, 2523 7th St., Monroe.
Anyone interested in horticulture and gardening is welcome at the tour and/or to join the Green County Master Gardeners Association; being a master gardener is not a requirement.
Two local master gardeners have volunteered to give tours of their garden areas for the meeting. Ross has a number of colorful perennials. Her backyard encompasses both sun and shade plants and features a number of roses. Ross also is a master composter and will share her expertise regarding her composting area.
The second half of the tour will be at the home of Lois Baker, 2425 7th St., Monroe. Baker's gardens also include a number of perennials and a blooming splendor of color for this time of year. Baker has been a master gardener for over 10 years and has much experience to share. Her gardens also feature sun and shade plants.
Both women will be on location to discuss their gardens and also will be addressing the trials and tribulations of pest management in the flower gardens.
The Green County Master Gardeners Association has meetings or tours each fourth Thursday of the month from February through October.
