Main Street Bingo LIVE! set

MONROE — Main Street Monroe will continue its virtual events, which started last March in response to the pandemic. The events, which have primarily focused on shopping nights with a variety of locally owned retails stores, will pivot slightly. It announced a bingo night earlier this week. More recently, it also held a virtual meditative art class with local artist Kathy King. While that class served as a fundraiser for the 501(c)3 not for profit, its upcoming bingo night will be free.

“We really just had been looking at the calendar and typically February is the longest month even though it’s not,” Main Street Monroe’s executive director, Jordan Nordby explained. “Nearly everything we do is geared towards families and we wanted to do something that would be a fun night in for a family of any size and any age,” he expounded.

The bingo night is scheduled for Thursday, February 25th. It will start at 7pm and be hosted by Chris Soukup, owner of Baumgartners. He will be calling numbers live. Main Street is using an online program. The link to receive bingo cards will be made available on Main Street’s Facebook page when the event starts. Anyone with a Facebook page will be able to play and the same account could have more than one card if multiple devices are used.

Main Street recommends playing on a desktop or laptop and not a mobile device so the video and bingo card can both be pulled up. Participants will be able to comment on the live video as numbers are being called. Nordby stated that he expects it to last about an hour and a half long so a few games can be played. There will be multiple winners per game and prizes will be given to each winner.
